Xuan Kong Da Gua refers to the 64 hexagrams.  The "64 hexagrams" is the same as Yi Jing (易經) hexagrams – Yi Jing [I Ching] is unquestionably one of the most important books in the study of Chinese texts.  Within these 64 hexagrams there are many secrets hidden inside and for centuries the Chinese has been using these hidden secrets for various applications.  The study of Chinese texts is very profound because there are many layers or levels of information in the same texts.  Unless and until someone reveals the hidden secrets to you – you would not be able to access the information.  That was how profound Chinese texts had been written.

In Xuan Kong Da Gua, each of the 64 hexagrams has the "element number" and "period number".  Usually, you will find the "Xuan Kong Da Gua" ring on San Yuan Luo Pan.
