• The Root or Base Chakra
  The root or base chakra lies in the area of the coccyx in men and between the ovaries in women. It is red in colour. This chakra is the seat of physical vitality and the survival center. It is the seat of kundalini energy and creative expression.
  It regulates those mechanisms which keep the physical body alive.
  Glands associated with it : the adrenal glands and sex organs.
  Organs associated with it : the kidneys, the bladder and the spine.

• The Sacral or Sexual Chakra (HARA)
  The sacral or sexual chakra is positioned a few inches below the navel. It is the center of sexual energy( both as transmitter and receiver ) and of the ego. Its colour is orange. The feelings of other people are directly perceived with this chakra, making it one of the centers of extrasensory perception.
  Glands associated with it : the gonads.
  Organs associated with it : the organs of reproduction and the legs.

• The Solar Plexus Chakra
  The solar plexus chakra lies slightly above the navel just between the lower ribs. Its colour is yellow. It is the actual centre of the body, the place where physical energy is distributed. It is also the centre of unrefined (greed,anger etc.) emotions and the power urge and wisdom.

  Organs associated with it : the stomach, liver and gall-bladder.

• The Heart Chakra
  The heart chakra is positioned in the middle of the chest. The colour is green. It is the center of real, unconditional affection as well as motherliness, spiritual growth, compassion, devotion and love. Most of us need a lot of healing of this chakra.

• The Throat Chakra
  The throat chakra also known as the Thyroid Chakra, is the chakra of communication, self-expression and creativity. It is located at the base of the neck. Its colour is light blue.

• The Third Eye Chakra
  The third eye chakra lies in the middle of the forehead. The colour is indigo. It is the centre of clairvoyance and telepathy and intuition. It is the seat of the will, The intellect and the spirit; it is here that we visualize things. The opening of the third eye corresponds to spiritual awakening in many spiritual traditions.
  Glands associated with it : the pituitary gland.
  Organs associated with it : the spine, the lower brain, the left eye, the nose and the ears.

• The Crown Chakra
  The crown chakra is positioned at the top of the head. Its colour is violet. This chakra represents the highest level of conciousness that mankind can attain, known as enlightenment, conciousness of unity and the conciousness of "I am." ( For this reason a spiritually awakened person is often represented with a halo or rays of light around his head.) This chakra is the seat of intuition and direct spiritual vision.
  Glands associated with it : the pineal gland ( the epiphysis ).
  Organs associated with it : the upper brain and the right eye.
