| Reiki is a laying-on of
healing hands technique thousands of years old. It is thought
to have originated as an ancient Oriental healing practice
that was rediscovered at the end of the 19th Century by Dr.
Mikao Usui who was then researching for the healing methods of
the great teachers. |

- Reiki is a natural healing system, an art that anyone
can learn. The beauty of Reiki lies in its simplicity, in
its accessibility to everyone.
- 'Rei' is the universal consciousness, and 'Ki' is the
life force energy that flows through us via the chakras
and meridians. When our life force energy is high and
flowing freely, we are strong, confident, healthy, happy
and capable of facing challenges. If our life force energy
is low, there is diminished body and mind functioning, and
consequently we become vulnerable to illnesses, depression
and stress.
- Reiki works on all bodily levels - the physical body,
the mental body and the body of our spirit. Reiki is safe
and natural; it is a vibrational energy technique that
balances, harmonizes and restores our energy systems by
using non-polarized energy, which accelerates the body's
natural ability to heal physical ailments and disease.
Reiki is not guided by the mind, and is therefore
independent of the limits or experience of any particular
Reiki practitioner. Because there is no need to guide
Reiki, as there is in other healing energies, Reiki energy
begins to flow without the necessity for entering an
altered state (such as deep meditation).
- Reiki belongs to all who seek and desire to learn the
art of healing. This vital energy from the universal
energy field is channeled into the human energy field
through the energy centers in the palms of the hands of
the Reiki practitioner, where it is transmuted into a form
that is usable at the cellular level. It is never sent to,
but drawn by the recipient at just the right amount
he/she needs, empowering his/her own innate healing
resources. The Reiki practitioner does not direct the
healing or decide what to work on, and therefore there is
no danger of his/her taking on the recipient's karma. In
addition, the practitioner's energies are never depleted,
because Reiki knows that both the practitioner and the
recipient require healing, so both receive treatment
simultaneously. Giving a treatment, therefore, increases
energy, love and well-being for both the practitioner and
the recipient.
- Reiki is non-denominational, holding no creed, doctrine
or contradiction to the Universal Laws of Consciousness
and Love; it complements all religions and philosophies,
serving only to heal. Reiki requires no particular belief
system; it works whether with or without beliefs after the
student is aligned with the energy. Reiki is with them for
life. What is necessary to Reiki is that the practitioner
lives in harmony with the world.
- Reiki is very versatile, simple yet powerful tool, which
can be applied for healing oneself, family and friends,
animals, plants and situations (e.g. to calm oneself
before a job interview, etc.). In the caring and nursing
professions, Reiki's uses are boundless.

- Reiki goes to the cause and effect - when the cause is
removed, there will be no effect.
- Reiki is taught by a Reiki Master. This is the first
degree level, and gives the student their basic
instruction, enabling them to explore working with Reiki.
The second degree workshop supplies the student with the
sacred Reiki symbols, and increases their scope to work on
a much broader scale. If the student wishes to go on to
teach Reiki, a Masters course is much more demanding.
